With reference to re-carding of your Magnetic Stripe Cards with EMV cards, you may receive fraudulent messages or calls from hacked helplines asking you to share your personal details. Please note that the bank staff does not need your personal details, mobile numbers, passwords or pins to activate your card so do not share your personal information with anyone.
Askari EMV Debit Cards:
Enjoy a safe & secure shopping experience with your Askari EMV chip and PIN enabled debit card. To make a payment with your Chip based Debit Card at a Point-of-Sale (POS) the merchant or the cashier will ‘dip’ your card. This means that instead of swiping the card, the merchant will now insert your card into a POS terminal slot. You will have to enter your 4 digit pin on pin enabled Point of Sale (POS), machine. This will be the same PIN that you use at the ATMs to withdraw cash. Kindly note that for POS machines which do not support PIN authentication, your signature will be required on the receipt to complete the transaction.
How to get your New Askari EMV Debit Card?
Askari Bank is currently upgrading your card from Magnetic stripe card to EMV card. You will be intimated once your new card is ready. You can visit your concerned branch to receive your new EMV card. There will be no fee charges in case your Magnetic stripe card is re-carded from non-chip to chip based.
How to activate your card & generate pin?
Voice & Virtual Center:
You can activate your card by calling Askari Bank Helpline at 111-000-787.
Branch:
1. On your visit to pick up your card you will present your CNIC to the staff
2. The branch staff will assist you in getting your card activated through branch portal
3. You will receive a one time password (OTP) on your registered mobile number to activate your card
I-Net:
1. Log onto I-Net Banking.
2. Click on the ATM Card Management option and select the card activation option by
clicking on “Activate” button.
3. A one-time password (OTP) will be sent on your registered mobile number.
Feed the same into the i-net system.
4. Enter 16 digits of your debit card number in the system for validation.
5. Enter your desired PIN twice in the system to activate the card.
6. A message regarding successful activation of card shall be displayed on the screen.
ATM:
1. Insert your new Debit Card in AKBL ATM.
2. Select your preferred language in the system.
3. Enter your CNIC number.
4. Enter your date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY)
5. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the same on the system.
6. Enter the desired new Debit Card pin twice to activate the card.
7. A message regarding successful activation of card shall be displayed on the screen.
Please ensure that you do this in privacy and you do not share your pin number with anyone including the bank’s staff. In case you don’t have your registered number updated in the system you can request to update registered number in the branch. In this case you will have to get your card activated after your new number is updated.
Please note that in case you have multiple accounts linked with your debit card, you can collect your card from the default branch that is linked with your debit card.
Further note that all magnetic stripe cards will be blocked for usage effective Dec 31, 2019.
What is EMV technology?
EMV stands for “Euro pay Master Card Visa”. It is a global standard for cards equipped with computer chips and the technology used to authenticate chip-card transactions. In the wake of numerous large-scale data breaches and increasing rates of counterfeit card fraud, card issuers have migrated to this new technology to protect consumers.
How do I make payments with my Askari EMV Debit Card?
Step 1: The merchant inserts your card at a PIN enabled POS machine and enters the transaction amount.
Step 2: The POS machine will prompt for a PIN to be entered by you.
Step 3: On entering the correct PIN, the transaction is confirmed and completed.
Step 4: Receive the card from the merchant without delay.
Note:
If you enter your Pin wrongly three times your card will be temporarily blocked. You can reactivate your card by calling Askari Help Line at 111-000-787.
For POS machines without PIN authentication support, you will have to complete the transaction by signing the POS terminal receipt.
Change your PIN code frequently through ATM to avoid any fraudulent activity on your card.
What should I do with my existing ATM/Debit Card when I receive my new Askari EMV Debit Card?
Your existing ATM/Debit Card will be blocked once your new Askari Debit Card has been activated. Please destroy the old card by cutting it vertically into two separate halves so that the data encoded on the magnetic strip is destroyed properly. All existing Magstrip, Non-chip cards will expire before 31st Dec, 2019.
What should I do if I am posted or travelling out of country?
Please ensure that you do convert your existing old Magstrip Non-EMV card to Chip EMV Card before you travel by contacting your concerned branch or the helpline at 111-000-787.
If you are settled or posted abroad, you can give an authority letter to someone so that they can pick the card.

Q4. How can I get my ATM PIN (Personal Identification Number) issued?
To generate your ATM PIN, kindly call Askari Voice & Virtual Center at 111-000-787, or use the branch portal to generate PIN. You can then change your pin for safety and security through Askari ATM or Askari Voice & Virtual Center.
Q5. How do I make purchases through my Askari EMV chip Debit Card?
On your purchase, the cashier will dip your Debit Card through the Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal and give you a charge slip. Check the transaction amount carefully and sign the slip. Please remember to collect your card and charge slip after completion of the transaction. Once the transaction is complete, the amount will be deducted from your Askari Bank Account.
Q6. How different is the use of Chip Card at Point-of-Sale for shopping?

Q10. What if my mobile phone number is not upgraded in the system?
In case your mobile phone number is not updated in the system you will have to request your concerned branch to update your mobile number as your registered number.
