Customer Disputes:

If a customer can prove that they were unable to receive an offer that they were entitled to at a partner merchant’s store or online shop, they may be eligible for a refund or redressal according to the following process:

  • The customer will write an email to the issuing bank stating the issue.
  • The email should include the partner merchant’s name, as well as the date, time and location of the purchase.
  • If available, the customer should attach a copy of the disputed bill.
  • The issuing bank will forward all details to Visa (simorgan@visa.com).
  • Visa will work with the supplier to confirm and resolve the issue with the said partner merchant.
  • If the dispute is valid, the partner merchant will refund the wrongly credited amount or issue a voucher towards the customer.
  • Visa and the supplier will work with the partner merchant to settle the issue and communicate to the issuing bank within 72 working hours of query raised.
  • The refund/redressal takes up to 10-15 working days.

Eligibility
  • No minimum balance requirements for issuance or retention of the VISA debit card. An eligible customer may apply for any of the debit cards, i.e., Classic or Gold.
  • Joint account holders, with the authority to operate the account singly, may be issued supplementary card(s)..
  • The supplementary card(s) may be issued to only those joint account holders who can operate the account singly with either or survivor option.
  • A customer/staff is allowed to retain as many cards as number of accounts and is allowed to link multiple accounts with single debit card.
  • Multiple accounts of the same customer, maintained at different branches of Askari Bank, may also be linked with a single VISA Debit Card. If the customer has an account with other branch(es), the application receiving branch must verify & confirm the following either through online system or from the concerned branch(es).

For Askari Mastercard credit cards you will receive a One Time Password (OTP) by SMS & email, on your registered mobile number & email address that would be required to complete your transaction.

This will add an extra layer of security while you shop online.

Step 1: Shop online at any 3D Secure enabled website.
Step 2: Enter your Askari Debit / Credit Card details such as card number, card expiry and CVC of your AKBL Card during checkout.
Step 3: The third page, Identity Check Confirmation, will show "SecureCode" logo of VISA or Mastercard or PayPak and Askari Bank’s name & logo. To confirm, press next, select the check-box “Agree to Terms and Conditions” and click “Submit”.
Step 4: You will receive (OTP) One Time Password on your Mobile number & email address registered with Askari Bank.

  • What is 3D Secure?

3D Secure Service, adds an additional layer of security when you use your Askari Debit & Credit Cards for internet-based transactions. It provides you added protection from unauthorised internet-based transactions as it requires you to provide a One Time Password (OTP) that is sent to your registered mobile number & email address when you make any transactions on 3D Secure enabled websites.

  • What is One Time Password (OTP)?

One Time Password (OTP) is a 06 digit online verification code sent to your registered mobile number & email address to process & complete an internet-based transaction.

  • Which Askari Bank Credit Cards are 3D Secure Enabled?

The 3D Secure Service is available on all Askari Debit & Credit Cards (i.e. VISA Debit Cards, PayPak Debit cards and Mastercard Credit Cards).

  • Can I perform Internet Based Transactions on websites which are Non 3D Secure Enabled?

For Askari Mastercard Credit Cards & Askari VISA Debit Cards, you can perform transactions on Non 3D Secure websites. However, for non 3DS enable website you will not go through the OTP authentication process. 

For Askari PayPAK Debit Cards, you can only perform domestic transactions on 3D Secure websites where the PayPak Secures Codes will be available.

  • How much will I be charged for the 3D Secure service?

There are no charges for 3D Secure Service.

  • How do I register for 3D Secure?

Registration is not required for 3D Secure. All Askari Debit & Credit Cardholders who have registered their mobile numbers & email address with Askari Bank can avail this facility. However, Basic Credit Cardholder needs to be enrolled for SMS alerts service in order to conduct a 3D Secure enabled internet-based transaction. Therefore, ensure that your mobile number & email address is updated in Askari Bank system.OTP will be received on registered mobile number & email address for Askari Mastercard Credit Card only. For Debit Cards (VISA & PayPak) OTP will be received on registered mobile number only. 

  • Do I need to call Askari Call Centre to activate the e-Commerce facility on my Askari Debit & Credit Cards?

For Askari Mastercard Credit cards, you are already enrolled for 3D Secure services. If you wish to deactivate, you can do so by calling Askari Bank’s Help Line 111-000-787. With 3D Secure you will be able to conduct internet-based transactions without calling Askari Bank helpline for session based e-commerce activation. 

For Askari Debit Cards, you are already enrolled for 3D Secure Services but you have to activate online session to use your Debit Card by calling AKBL 24/7 helpline 111000787. 

OTP Generation and Authentication
  • How long is an OTP valid for?

An OTP stays valid for 10 minutes from the time of generation after which it expires. In case OTP expires, the transaction will need to be reinitiated.

  •  Will I receive an OTP for all my Internet-Based transaction?

You will receive an OTP for internet-based transaction on 3D Secure enabled websites. However, only Askari Mastercard Credit Cards & Askari VISA Debit Cards can be used for non 3DS enable website and you will not go through the OTP authentication process. 

  • What should I do if do not receive my OTP?

In case One Time Password (OTP) is not received, the transaction just needs to be cancelled and re-initiated.

  • What happens if I have entered an invalid OTP?

Your transaction will be cancelled and you will have to reinitiate the transaction and complete it with a new OTP. 

  • What should I do if I receive an OTP for a transaction not performed by me?

Immediately call Askari Bank Help Line at 111-000-787 to block your Askari Debit or Credit Card.

  • If my mobile phone is on roaming while I am abroad, will I receive an OTP for internet-based transactions?

Yes, you will receive an OTP via SMS & email address. However, you may incur roaming charges (if any) from your mobile service provider.OTP will be received on registered mobile number & email address for Askari Mastercard Credit Card only. For Debit Cards (VISA & PayPak) OTP will be received on registered mobile number only.

  • Can I provide a temporary phone number to receive my OTP if my Askari Bank’s registered phone number is not available? 

An OTP via SMS will only be sent to your mobile number registered with Askari Bank. You can update your international mobile number for Askari Mastercard Credit Card by sending request through your email address already registered with Askari Bank. However, Transaction SMS will not be received on international mobile number. 

For updating of Mobile number against your Askari Debit Cards (VISA & PayPak) you have to visit your nearest AKBL Branch. 

  • Will my supplementary cardholder receive an OTP on their mobile number for internet-based transactions made using their Askari MasterCard Credit Card?

Yes, your supplementary cardholder will receive an OTP on his/her mobile number & email address registered with Askari Bank.  

Online Purchases
  • Which Internet Browsers do I need to use for 3D Secure?

Any compatible web browser such as Internet explorer, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari can be used for 3D Secure transactions.

Please ensure that you have enabled pop-up windows in your browser in order to complete your payment with 3D Secure transactions.

  • How will I know if the website is safe to use?

Look for secure transaction symbols when shopping online to ensure your account information is protected. These include a lock symbol usually found on the right or left side of your browser’s address bar and a web address that begins with “https”.

Always sign out of any website after you make a purchase. If you can’t sign out, close the browser window and clear your browser’s cache and history to prevent unauthorized access to your account information.

Certified merchants can be identified by the logo “MasterCard SecureCode” on the merchant’s website.

  • How can I differentiate normal internet-based transactions from those made on a 3D Secure enabled website?

MasterCard SecureCode” logo will be displayed if you are performing an internet-based transaction on a 3D Secure enabled website. On a non 3D Secure transaction you will not receive an OTP and you will not get MasterCard 3D Secure Logo on payment form.

  • Will I be notified once the transaction is processed?

If you have subscribed for SMS alerts, you will be notified via SMS, once the transaction is processed. Supplementary cardholder’s transaction shall be notified to Basic Cardholder on his/her mobile number registered with Askari bank.

  • What should I do if I suspect that information on my Askari Bank MasterCard Credit Card is compromised or has been used to make fraudulent purchases?

Please call Askari Bank’s 24/7 helpline at 111-000-787 immediately and report the same.

  • Can I raise a dispute in case any fraudulent transaction happens on e com with my Askari Mastercard Credit Card?

Yes you may raise a dispute by calling the 24/7 call center at 111000787.

  • If I make a transaction on a non 3ds website , will my Askari Credit Card data get compromised?

In order to ensure safety you must use your credit card online with great caution and only use your credit card on a reliable websites. Askari Bank is monitoring your transactions and ensures that a fraudulent attempt is blocked as soon as it is identified.

  • Will I be refunded in case a fraudulent transaction occurs on my Askari Mastercard Credit Card?

Once it is established through our investigation that a fraudulent transaction did infact occur and the dispute was raised timely. We will be assisting you with your refund.

Basic MasterCard Credit Cardholders can request to enrol for SMS alerts facility at any time by simply calling helpline at 111-000-787 from their phone number registered with Askari Bank.

Safe Internet Transactions

  • Please be aware of possible internet frauds and luring traps of hackers.
  • Keep software updated (operating system and browsers) because malicious hackers can find vulnerabilities in softwares (windows and browsers). Please ensure that operating and browser software’s are kept up-to-date using legitimate upgrades and patches issued by the legitimate software vendors.
  • Ensure that your computer has up-to-date anti-virus software and firewall installed. Firewalls can monitor both incoming and outgoing internet traffic and anti-virus will protect your computer against Trojan and Worm attacks.
  • Make sure that your browser is set to the highest level of security notification and monitoring. The safety options are not always activated by default when you install softwares on your computer.
  • The most popular browsers i.e. Microsoft Edge, Chrome and Firefox. Check that you are using a recent version. You can usually download the latest version from these browsers’ websites.
  • Only shop at secure websites. Ensure that the security icon, the locked padlock or unbroken key symbol, is appearing in the bottom right of your browser window before you send your card details.
  • The beginning of the retailer’s internet address will change from ‘http’ to ‘https’ when a purchase is made using a secure connection.
  • Use sites you can trust, for example, the sites you know or that have been recommended to you by a trusted entity or that carry the Trust logo.
  • Click on the security icon to ensure that the retailer has a valid encryption certificate. The address on this certificate should conform to the address on the address bar. The certificate should ensure the identity of the website and the current date should be within the validity dates of the certificate.
  • Keep your personal information safe. Always be wary of emails asking you to click on a link or confirm your personal details. Reputable retailers, banks etc. would never ask you to disclose or confirm sensitive personal or security information, including your PIN /OTP. When in doubt, call the organization.
  • Avoid signing up for junk mail. This may result in pre-filled application forms being sent to an address long after you have moved out.
  • Print out your order and keep copies of the retailer’s terms and conditions return policy, delivery conditions, postal address (not a post office box) and phone number (not a mobile number). There may be additional charges such as local taxes and postage, particularly if you are purchasing from abroad. When buying from overseas remember that it may be difficult to seek redress if problems arise, but having all the aforementioned information will help us address your case if you subsequently have any difficulties.
  • Ensure you are fully aware of any payment commitments you are entering into, whether you are instructing a single payment or a series of payments.
  • In case, you pay your utility bills using virtual banking facility, ensure that username, customer ID and the amount billed are exactly the same as the bill sent to you by your company. The transaction receipt may be saved on the hard disk and may be printed as well. It can be referred to 16 in case of a mismatch with the internet transaction history or already paid bill may reappear in the next billing cycle.
  • If you have any doubts about giving your card details, use another method of payment.
  • If you regularly make transactions over the internet for business purpose, consider opening a separate Askari Corporate Credit Card Account specifically for business related transactions.
  • Keep your passwords secret. Some online stores may require you to register with them via username and password before buying. Online passwords should be kept secret from outside parties in the same way you protect your card PIN. Keep the login information safe and secret.
  • Never send payment information via email. Information that travels over the internet (such as email) is not fully protected from being read by outside parties. The most reputable merchant sites use encryption technologies that will protect your private data from being accessed by others as you conduct an online transaction.
  • Never click on hyperlinks within emails. If you are sure that the company is genuine then directly type in the URL in the internet browser address bar, or call the company on a contact number previously verified or known to be genuine.
  • Do not let websites or merchants store your card information. The exchange of encrypted transactions is more secure than allowing your card information to be stored on some website.
  • Do not make online transactions using public computers. Public computers might have ‘keyloggers’ (programs that record what you are typing) and other spyware to retrieve sensitive information.
  • Avoid making online transactions in ‘Wi-Fi’ wireless spots present in restaurants, coffee shops, malls etc. as they are relatively insecure and information can easily be intercepted by persons with malicious intent.

  • The Cardholder is entitled to 12 lounge visits (Cardholder only) in a calendar year.
  • To be eligible for the complete entitlement of 12 visits, the Cardholder needs to complete one (1) international transaction in each calendar year (Eligibility Condition).
  • Annual lounge visit entitlement and the requirement to meet the Eligibility Condition will reset from 1st Jan in subsequent years.
  • As part of the default option, any lounge visits outside Visa Lounge Entitlement will need to be paid for by the Cardholder (Visit will be charged directly to the card by Airport Companion Application).

  • Can I still use my physical card to redeem benefits as before?

A: No, you will not be able to access lounges using your physical Visa Debit card. To enjoy lounge access, please register on the Visa Airport Companion App prior to your visit.

  • Do I need to enter my Visa card details in the app?

A: Yes, to register on the App, you will need to enter your Visa Debit card details. Should you receive a new card (due to loss, theft, or expiration), you'll need to update the details accordingly.

  • Can I register at the lounge itself?

No, registration must be completed via the app before you can access the lounge. You can register from anywhere with an internet connection. We highly recommend registering prior to arriving at the lounge to ensure a seamless entry experience.

  • Can I bring a guest to the lounge?

Yes, you are welcome to bring guests to the lounges. If you do not have complimentary guest visits, you can still invite guests for an additional fee, which will be charged to your registered Askari Visa Signature Debit card.

  • Is there a website for this service? What if I don't have a smartphone?

Visa Airport Companion App is a fully digital, app-based experience. Unfortunately, without a smartphone, you will be unable to utilize this service. 

  • Can I register more than one Visa card on the App?

Yes, you can add multiple eligible Visa cards to your Visa Airport Companion account. Simply navigate to the membership page and select 'Add new membership' to enter the details of your additional card. Once validated, a new membership linked to that card will be created. You can easily switch between memberships by selecting 'Switch membership' on the membership page.

  • Can I access the lounge if I don't have Wi-Fi or mobile data?

Yes, you can enable offline access through your device’s biometrics. Upon registration, you will be prompted to enable offline access, however this must be completed while the App is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data. This feature can also be managed in the 'Account' section under 'Security'. When offline, you will see a prompt on the login page to view your membership without internet. Confirm using your biometrics to proceed.

  • Is entry to the lounge guaranteed?

Lounge access is subject to availability on the day of your travel. If the lounge is at capacity, we recommend checking the app for alternative lounges you may visit.

Overseas Debit Card Process

For the Delivery of the Debit Card 

  • Overseas customers will route the request through his/her registered email to “support@askaribank.com.pk”.
  • The request must contain the following documents:
    • Copy of a valid passport, visa and entry stamp. 
    • Expected date of return to Pakistan.
    • New (temporary) contact number or number of existing destination (if registered mobile number is not in use on roaming).
    • Signed authority letter for the collection of the debit card (in the name of the person who will collect the Debit Card on behalf of the AKBL customer)
    • Arrival date in Pakistan through the undertaking.
    • After submission of the above documents, the authorised representative of the customer will visit the respective branch within 5 working days to collect the Debit Card.
    • Proper written acknowledgement will be obtained from authorized representative who received the Debit Card on behalf of the AKBL customer.
    • Once the Debit Card is handed over to authorized representative, the branch will send a confirmation email to the customer at his/her registered email.
For Activation of Debit Card through I-Net Banking
  • Upon receipt of the Debit Card, the overseas customer will log in to Askari Internet Banking and activate the new Debit Card through the ATM Card Management menu. 
For Activation of Debit Card through Call Centre
  • Upon receipt of the Debit Card, the overseas customer will call Askari Contact Centre on UAN +92-111-000-787 numbers for card activation through his/her registered mobile number (in case of use on roaming).
  • If Internet Banking is not available or blocked due to card expiry, and customer's registered mobile is also switched off or not on roaming, then the Debit Card will be activated after approval as per the bank’s policy.
